BuzzFlash Recommendation

If you saw Robert Greenwald's documentary expose on FOX News and wanted more, this is the book for you. This 309-page journey through the Republican propaganda station, aka FOX News, will provide you with enough outrage for a lifetime. By the time you're done reading it, you'll want to buy one of those

"FOX Blockers" some wag recently invented.

FOX is a so-called news network -- run by the former producer for Rush Limbaugh and a GOP television advisor -- that creates its own reality. Their slogan should be, "Our stories are more interesting than the facts. Facts are boring; we never are."

Of course, the fiction dispensed as news by FOX is always in sync with the White House propaganda messages of the day. It's amazing how that happens, isn't it?

FOX News represents the death of journalism, and the triumph of propaganda and PR packaging masquerading as accurate information. It is really as if the RNC had been thinking about starting a news station, but Rupert Murdoch just turned one over to them instead.

What FOX News sells is a radical GOP ideology prism that is used to manipulate viewers to believe that what they are hearing and watching is true because it matches their Bushevik world view. It is also responsive to the timely demands of Rovian political strategy, making a story like Terri Schiavo a 24-hour a day crisis if that's what the White House wants in order to stir up its radical religious base.

Why is FOX News so attractive to its viewers, the author of this great written follow-up to the documentary asks? Because it reassures them that someone else is responsible for their problems. In short, like true demagogues it provides scapegoats, in the form of liberals, minorities, non-Christians, gays, and anyone who is not a loyal Bushevik.
