Ms. Not Quite Right
It's sad, but we've now been in the print media long enough to see what happens in response to declining readership -- and it's not a pretty sight.
Newspapers and newsmagazines with a proud history and self-identity that spans decades suddenly pogo from desperate makeover to another, frantically trying to guess "what readers really want.'
But the result is almost always the same -- pathetic pandering.
And so it is that, without any particularly news hook that we can think of, Time magazine places Ann Coulter -- "Ms. Right" -- on its cover this week. Even more bizarrely, it comes just one week after the magazine raised hackles by naming Coulter to its "Time 100" list of influential Americans
