MORRISON - Veterans gathered at Memorial Park in Morrison Saturday afternoon to remember Spc. Keith "Matt" Maupin, 20, who has been missing in Iraq for a year.

Maupin was captured sometime around April 9, 2004 after his convoy was attacked. He later showed up in a video aired on al-Jazeera. His captors claimed to have killed him but that was never confirmed. The U.S. military still lists him as missing.

Maupin is from Batavia, Ohio and other services were held there Saturday.
"He's not from Denver, he's not a member of the Air Force, but he is a military member and there by a veteran, a brother, a family member," said Don Marsh, a Vietnam veteran who attended the ceremony in Morrison.

Marsh and others who were at the event are calling on the U.S. government to consider Maupin a Prisoner of War and to work to find him.
