NY Times Sat on Bush/NSA Spying Story for Over a Year

Robert Parry writes: "The New York Times has disclosed that George W. Bush secretly waived rules restricting electronic surveillance inside the United States, allowing spying on hundreds of Americans that normally would require a court warrant. But almost as stunning was the Times admission that it had held the story for a year."

Sources Say Pending Book Did Help Push 'NY Times' to Publish Spy Story

Editor & Publisher: "Since it broke the big domestic spy program story last week, The New York Times has been accused (from the left) of holding back the story since before the November 2004 election, and (from the right) publishing it only now because of a pending book written by one of its reporters.
