From correspondents in New York
March 29, 2006
MORE human remains from the September 11, 2001 terror strikes on New York have been found, city officials said today.Construction workers at work on a building near the felled Twin Towers found the remains.
"There were human remains found on March 24th at the Deutsche Bank," said Ellen Borakove, spokeswoman of the NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
"Those are bone fragments; I don't give any further information than that," she said.
It was the third time in the past few months such a find was made in the area near where more than 2700 people were killed in the attacks on the World Trade Centre.
Late last year, 10 bone fragments were found; and in January two pieces of human tissue were located.
The spokeswoman said that efforts would be made to identify the remains.
"We try to extract DNA and then we match to the DNA profiles that we have on record from the people who were reported missing from the WTC," she said.
