President Bush on Tuesday ordered a temporary suspension of environmental rules for gasoline, making it easier for refiners to meet demand and possibly dampen prices at the pump. He also halted for the summer the purchase of crude oil for the government's emergency reserve.
Bush also announced steps to ease environmental standards governing fuel grades.

Make things even easier for the oil companies, when they are rolling over in cash already?
This is fucking insane.
Private enterprise is encouraged in America on the premise that it will regulate and behave itself. The oil companies are NOT doing that - time to crack down.
Entire industries, such as railroads and airlines, were seized by the government during previous wars; perhaps it's time to seize the oil industry during the War on Terror.
