Blair heads to US for Bush talks

A summit of two dinosaurs, I say. May history judge both of you harshly.

BBC - UK leader Tony Blair is set to meet US President George W Bush with Iraq and Iran dominating the agenda.

Mr Blair will urge the international community as a whole to support Iraq's new government, said his spokesman.

In a speech on foreign affairs on Friday, the UK leader is to focus on the values of democracy and reform of the post-World War II institutions.

The dominant policies of the US and UK leaders have left them weakened at home, says the BBC's Paul Reynolds.

Their common cause in Iraq has not delivered the success they believed was assured, our world affairs correspondent says.

On this visit, they will seek to justify that cause but they know that some are withholding judgement until events deliver their own verdict, he says.
