Charles Gibson pawned three of his nail guns on his way to work.
The $125 he pocketed will go toward getting him home.
A roofer, Gibson drives each morning from Gettysburg for jobs in York. But his truck gets only eight to 10 miles to the gallon. And with the recent rise in gas prices, his 30-gallon tank now costs about $90 to fill.
Despite the fact that he's been pawning off the pieces of his livelihood, Gibson was nonchalant.
He figures once the price of gas drops again, he'll be able to buy his nail guns back.
In the meantime, he said, he doesn't always have the luxury of only accepting jobs closer to home.
"Sometimes you gotta take the work that's there," he said.
