Another Endorsement for Ned Lamont

Ned and his family…tell me that wouldn’t look good on a Christmas card from his Senate office?
Ned Lamont picked up another endorsement today in his run for the Senate. And it was a big one — not so much a national name, but someone who is a household name in the state of Connecticut.
Ned’s latest endorsement comes from George Jepson, immediate past president of the Connecticut state Democratic party, who had this to say:
"It begins with the war, but is not limited to the war," Jepson said. "I sincerely like Joe Lieberman. But I disagree profoundly with his unyielding support for George Bush’s war in Iraq, his embrace of the so-called ‘culture of life’ in overriding the rights of Terry Schiavo, his failure to be an advocate for civil rights issues, his support for school vouchers, his being the only New England Senator to vote to allow the federal government to put a natural gas pipeline in Long Island Sound."
And this:
Lamont’s presence on the ticket will help all Democrats, "because we will be speaking in one voice," added Jepson.
This comes on the heels of an interview with Sen. Joe Lieberman, in which Holy Joe refused to rule out the possibility that he would run as an independent if he loses the primary. At least, at this stage, it’s looking like Lieberman won’t bolt the party before the primary, if you can take him at his word on this.
Lieberman was careful to couch his veiled independent candidacy threats this time as "an independent Democrat," but I like to think of it as being a plain old Sore Loser. (As Jane says, it’s the Cut And Run 2006 Campaign.)
In the past five days, CT bloggers have gotten both Democratic gubernatorial candidates, the Dem. Sec of state and 2 of the 3 top-tier U.S. House challengers to pledge their support to the Democratic nominee. CTBlog has more.
And rumor has it…there are more endorsements to come for Ned. Oh yeah, feel the Joementum. (Or not.)
