John Kerry's realpolitik international summit plan for Iraq is sure to enrage the neo-cons.
June 14, 2006 -- Speaking at yesterday's Take Back America conference in Washington, DC, Senator John Kerry called for an international summit on Iraq. In something that is bound to irritate the neo-cons, Kerry specifically called for the inclusion of Syria and Iran -- two nations that are targeted by the Bush neo-cons for destabilization and possible military attacks. In addition to Syria and Iran, Kerry said all the countries in the region should be summit participants, including Turkey and Russia,. Kerry called for the involvement of the Arab League (which includes Palestine as a member), NATO, and the UN.
John Kerry's realpolitik international summit plan for Iraq is sure to enrage the neo-cons. Their sworn enemies, Ahmedinejad, Assad, Abbas, and Putin will have a seat at the summit table. No table setting for Israel, however.
Rep. John Conyers, who will become House Judiciary Committee Chairman if the Democrats win back the House, said he would hold hearings on the Bush administration's lying in the lead up to the Iraq war. He specifically mentioned calling former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill and Ambassador Joseph Wilson as witnesses, in addition to others.
