Ex-C.I.A. Officer in New Book Talks
The $2.5 million book deal that Valerie Plame Wilson, the former Central Intelligence Agency officer whose identity was publicly disclosed three years ago, negotiated with Crown Publishing Group last month has fallen through.
Ms. Wilson, who could not agree on terms with Crown, is now in exclusive negotiations with Simon & Schuster, which originally had lost an auction for the book to Crown.
...
When Crown announced the deal last month, Steve Ross, senior vice president and publisher, said the book had a working title of "Fair Game" and would be published in the fall of 2007. He said at the time that the book would be the "first airing of her actual role in the American intelligence community, as well as the prominence of her role in the lead-up to the war."
...
This is not the first time that Crown has lost a deal with a former member of the C.I.A. It originally agreed to publish a book by George J. Tenet, a former director of central intelligence. That deal too fell apart, and now Mr. Tenet's book will be published by HarperCollins in February 2007 as "At the Center of the Storm."
