Downer threatened US

All they had to do was to put out the Bush Administrations deals with the Sadam Kickbacks, that is all that was needed. I Question? is that why we are there, were we blackmailed into an illegal war and occupation by the Bush administration? while they are guilty of the same crimes.
THE Howard government used Australia's support for the US in Iraq as a bargaining chip to protect the country's multibillion-dollar wheat trade with Baghdad.

New documents revealed how Australia feared the US would muscle in on Australia's dominant trading position with Saddam Hussein's regime.

The documents show that more than six months before the Iraqi invasion, Foreign Minister Alexander Downer suggested military support for the US in Iraq would benefit Australia's commercial position.

He was concerned, once war had broken out, the US would use its battle deaths to justify seizing Australia's wheat trade. Mr Downer told the US it could forget about "Aussie support in the future" if the Americans took control of its wheat deal.
