Senator Joseph I. Lieberman picked up an endorsement from a prominent Republican on Tuesday, but he also lost the backing of a Democratic colleague who just weeks ago had said he was supporting the senator.
The Republican is Jack Kemp, his party's vice-presidential candidate in 1996, who has agreed to campaign with Mr. Lieberman as the senator runs for re-election on his own party line, Connecticut for Lieberman, against Ned Lamont, the Democratic nominee.
