BRITISH police have found "martyrdom" video tapes apparently recorded by some of the suspects held over an alleged plot to blow up US-bound airliners, a media report said overnight.

Officers have found at least half a dozen videos in which the suspects allegedly recorded their last statements in preparation for suicide attacks, according to BBC television which quoted unofficial police sources.

It said the "videos found on laptops appear to be recorded by some of the suspects currently in custody."

London's Metropolitan Police declined to comment on the report.

Police have searched more than 50 buildings since the authorities announced August 10 that they had foiled a plot to blow up as many as 10 planes in mid-flight between Britain and the United States.

Some 23 suspects remain in custody.

The BBC reported previously that police had found a suitcase containing components needed to make an explosive device, in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, northwest of London.

"Mass murder on an unbelievable scale"The timing is political

One of the alleged terrorists had made a bomb. None had bought a plane ticket. Many did not have passports. It could be pretty difficult to convince a jury that these individuals were about to go through with suicide bombings, whatever they bragged about on the net.
