The University of Diyala has lost two other professors to violence. Staff and students have protested the murders by staging a one-day demonstration on campus. Mohammed al-Tamimi and Karim al-Saadi were machine-gunned by unidentified gunmen. Early this month the university suspended post-graduate studies at two colleges for lack of staff.
