Aug. 16, 2006 -- From our National Press Club sources who cover the White House: the White House Press Corps was told that its move from the White House to "temporary" quarters in the New Executive Office Building across Pennsylvania Avenue (which is now more like Red Square than an avenue) is far from temporary. The Bush White House promised that renovations to the James Brady Press Briefing Room will take nine months. However, WMR's sources who cover the White House that the press corps will remain in the New Executive Office Building for the duration of the Bush administration. With the press corps now out of the White House, Fox has a tremendous advantage over other news networks.
The last time the press corps was temporarily moved out of the White House was 1902.
