Hewlett-Packard Co.'s chief outside lawyer Lawrence Sonsini hired President George W. Bush's former top election attorney to help prepare him for a Congressional investigation of the company's boardroom leak probe.
Sonsini, 65, chairman of the Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati law firm in Palo Alto, California, hired a team that includes Michael Madigan and former Congressman Bill Paxon, both of the Washington, D.C., office of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. Madigan was chief litigation counsel for Bush's election campaign in the Florida recount during the 2000 election.
