(CNN) -- Seven people were killed and 17 injured Tuesday evening in an explosion in the southeastern Turkish city of Diyarbakir, according to the press office of the city's governor.
Three of those injured were seriously hurt, the press office said. There has been no claim of responsibility for the blast.
Turkish authorities later said blast was caused by a bomb made from powerful explosives and was set off by a cell phone timer, The Associated Press reports. (Watch chaos in the streets after the blast -- 1:02 )
