Poll: Ford Leading Opponent 51-44%...
DSCC October 10, 2006 12:14 PM
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) is releasing a new poll today that shows Ford with a seven-point lead over Corker, 51% - 44%. Hamilton Beattie & Staff conducted the survey among 800 likely voters statewide from October 2 to October 4, 2006. The margin of error was 3.3%.
"Polls go up and down but with less than a month to go until Election Day, we'd rather be where Harold Ford is than where Bob Corker is," DSCC spokesman Phil Singer said. "Corker is in disarray, shaking things up and hiring Hollywood media types instead of explaining things like why he's for staying the course in Iraq one day and against it the next. With this kind of wavering, it's no wonder that Tennesseans are turning to Harold Ford Jr. to lead on Iraq, national security and other issues."

"Junior, as I will call him, has done an excellent job of campaigning," said Jim Melton, 59, of Maryville in east Tennessee. "He has done an excellent job of appearing to be conservative. He is not."

Democrat Harold Ford Jr. has been one of the most effective political candidates this year. Just ask Tennessee Republicans.
