(Dubai Ports World), rebuffed by U.S., looks at Halifax
HALIFAX — Dubai Ports World, recently rebuffed in an attempt to manage six U.S. ports, is considering acquiring terminals in Halifax as an alternative in North America, says a Canadian senator.
Wilfred Moore, a Nova Scotian senator who visited the United Arab Emirates company in September, said the firm's executives are checking out terminals at the East Coast port.
He said with the firm being pressured to divest management of U.S. ports, Canada is viewed as another way to enter the North American market.
... Mr. Moore said he doesn't think Canadian authorities will repeat the actions of U.S. members of the congress in resisting purchase of Canadian terminals
