From Paraguay (land deals for Dubya) to Panama (UNICEF) and now Buenos Aires

(drunken sprees and purse snatching), Bush twins causing U.S. Latin American embassies headaches.
November 28, 2006 -- WMR's State Department sources are reporting on the true nature of what has transpired in Buenos Aires with the two Bush twins, Jenna and Barbara Bush.

Last week, Barbara Bush had her cell phone and purse stolen from a San Telmor restaurant in Buenos Aires. Joined by her twin sister Jenna, the two Bush twins celebrated their 25th birthday together and there were reports in the Argentine press that the two were seen running down the hall of their hotel naked.

Amid the press attention, the US Embassy reportedly asked the Bush twins to leave Argentina, especially since their shenanigans were eclipsing the public events surrounding the arrival of career U.S. ambassador Anthony Wayne.

The Embassy soon issued the following statement:

"We have seen a report from news sources stating that Embassy officials strongly suggested that President Bush’s daughters curtail their visit in Argentina. This is false, as are other aspects of the report referring to the Embassy’s position on the visit. The Embassy welcomes the visit and has provided close support and cooperation."

Our State Department sources report the actual details surrounding the original embassy request and denial.

The twins' Secret Service detail were dealing almost exclusively with the Regional Security Officer (RSO) at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires. The RSO, who works for State's Bureau of Diplomatic Security, State's version of the SS and FBI combined, has its own "channel" of communications to Washington, although it does go via normal telegraphic circuits. DS CHANNEL messages (cables) are not required to be seen or cleared by the Ambassador (AMBO), and in most cases, contains very sensitive information. Distribution of DS information on the Washington, DC end is very close hold.

Based on the Bush twins' antics, the RSO in Buenos Aires sent a DS CHANNEL telegrams assessing the situation, and requested that someone in authority at State extricate the two Bush girls out of Buenos Aires before a serious situation occurred. Ambassador Wayne likely did not know what had been sent over the DS CHANNEL until the news about the request was leaked in Washington. And as a newly-arrived ambassador, Wayne would not have wanted to get involved in a major flap with the White House.

To cover his back side, the RSO, who is identified on the US Embassy's web site as Glenn Campbell, obviously put his request about the twins in writing in order to ensure there was a record of his concern if anything untoward did happen to the twins.
