- At least three killed in suicide bombing at a bakery in the Red Sea resort town of Eilat, Israeli police tell CNN.

PCHR strongly condemns internal fighting between Hamas and Fatah movements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), especially the Gaza Strip, which has killed 19 persons, including 8 civilian bystanders, and wounded at least 70 others. PCHR calls upon the leaders of the two movements and all other nationalist and Islamic factions to make sincere efforts to contain and stop such regrettable and shameful fighting, go back to dialogue and put higher national interests of the Palestinian people above all narrow partisan interests and political conflict over authority. Israelis releasing poison-gas balloons into south Lebanon

Again, another Israeli atrocity not covered by the media. Reported today by almustaqbal newspaper Israelis releasing colored balloons contains poison gases into south of Lebanon. Lebanese people in Tyre found 22 colored balloons, 12 balloons found on the beaches of Nabatyah, drooped by the Israeli military airplanes yesterday night. PM Fouad Siniora conducted the necessary contacts with the leadership of the army and the international forces, who assigned the Italian forces to take samples of the balloon and its contents to be examined, after eight cases recorded of persons fainting and vomiting as a result of inhaling toxic substances inside the balloons including a woman- journalist "Rana Mohammad" from the Al-Nahar newspaper who fainted after photographing the balloons...

Israel's use of U.S.-made cluster bombs in last year's war in Lebanon likely violated agreements with the United States governing their use, the State Department says.
The use of the shells, which eject multiple smaller munitions or "bomblets" that often fail to explode, is opposed by many groups because of the many civilians who have fallen victim to the weapons.
President Jimmy Carter angered Israel and its friends by describing "the abominable oppression and persecution in the occupied Palestinian territories, with a rigid system of required passes and strict segregation between Palestine's citizens and Jewish settlers in the West Bank." Now, The Electronic Intifada has obtained an Israeli Ministry of Defense Powerpoint presentation which provides a frightening glimpse into the mindset of the bureaucracy of apartheid. The first page of the document bears the name "Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories" as well as the acronym "COGAT" at the bottom of each page. These appear to refer to the unit of the Israeli army that enforces the occupation against the Palestinian civilian population. The top of the first slide also bears the names and insignia of the "State of Israel" and the "Ministry of Defense." Dated January 12, the presentation is titled "Key Measures for easing the daily lives of the Palestinian Population."...
