Maribel Permuy, mother of cameraman Jose Couso, killed in Baghdad on April 8, 2003, speaks with Granma.
..."On that April 8, 2003, my son was on the balcony of room 1402 of the Palestine Hotel. He was hit by shrapnel while he was filming, from the 14th floor, the advance of two US Bradley tanks over the Al Yamuria Bridge some 15 blocks away," Maribel Permuy told Granma. "It was a war crime, a public assassination that they later tried to justify with the story that there was a pocket of resistance on the hotel’s roof, and that’s why they shot. That’s a blatant lie!"...
