They apparently are targeting al Qaeda, some who may have been responsible for the Embassy bombings. They want Haroon Fasul, the supposed mastermind of the Kenya/Tanzania bombing, and the Mombasa hotel bombing of Israeli tourists, and other actions.

The US apparently got the intel from the Somalis and Ethiopians. Likely they paid a good penny for it.
