Wife of Kidnapped LaPorte Man Files for Bankruptcy
The wife of Jeffrey Ake has started bankruptcy proceedings for his LaPorte County company.
Ake was kidnapped in Iraq nearly two years ago. He was last seen in an April 2005 video that showed him being held at gunpoint.
Bankruptcy filings show Ake's Rolling Prairie water-bottling company, Equipment Express, has more than $1.4 million in outstanding bills.
Liliana Ake says mounting debt has also forced her to put her LaPorte home on the market.
She says with four children and a sick mother to care for, she has had to make a lot of tough decisions.
