LONDON (Reuters) - Private equity firm Carlyle Group (CYL.UL: Quote, Profile , Research) plans to float a $1 billion (500 million pound) fund in Europe that invests in bank loans, mortgage portfolios and other fixed-income securities, The Sunday Telegraph said without citing sources.
The private equity group has already raised $500 million for the fund of Carlyle Capital Corporation through a private placing, most of which has been taken up by investors in other Carlyle funds, the newspaper said.
A further $500 million to $600 million would be raised through a stock market flotation scheduled for the second quarter of the year - with the listing being either in London or on Amsterdam's Euronext exchange.
No-one at Carlyle was immediately available to comment.
