George Bush Holds the Mirror Up to His Nature

Thursday, 01 February 2007

This is a bit late, but did anyone notice that in the course of the State of the Union address, George W. Bush gave one of the most succinct, accurate and penetrating descriptions of his administration ever coined? This is no joke. In a single passage, he displays a clearer, more astringent view of the reality of his governing style and the philosophical underpinnings of his ideology than most of his critics have ever mustered. Here, in a mere thirty words, the President of the United States gives us the pith and marrow of the political faction that now directs the affairs of the nation:

Take almost any principle of civilization, and their goal is the opposite. They preach with threats, instruct with bullets and bombs, and promise paradise for the murder of the innocent.
