Venezuela: Bush`s upcoming tour aimed at dividing Latin America
Caracas (Venezuela), Feb 13: A foreign tour that will take US President George W Bush to Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico next month is aimed at undermining Latin America's drive for unity, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro has said.
The White House has announced the tour would underscore Washington's commitment to democratic governments in the region, where most leaders have warm ties with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
"There's Bush coming to South America. For what? He's trying to divide," Maduro told reporters yesterday, following a closed-door meeting in Caracas with Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Consuelo Araujo.
"They are not going to succeed. He's going to waste his time," he added.
