The new Chinese embassy in Washington

March 29, 2007 -- When completed, the new Chinese embassy in Washington, at 10,760 square meters, will be one of the largest in the nation's capital. The embassy, which takes up an entire city block and then some, is situated in the International Center in northwest Washington off Connecticut Avenue. Its smaller neighbors include the embassies of Israel, Pakistan, Ghana, Bangladesh, and Singapore. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Chinese embassy has been located in the old Roosevelt Hotel on Connecticut Avenue.
