White House Refuses To Hand Over Subpoenaed Docs

Associated Press TERENCE HUNT June 28, 2007 09:08 AM
The White House, moving toward a constitutional showdown with Congress, asserted executive privilege Thursday and rejected lawmakers' demands for documents that could shed light on the firings of federal prosecutors.
President Bush's attorney told Congress the White House would not turn over subpoenaed documents for former presidential counsel Harriet Miers and former political director Sara Taylor.

CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS:THE WHITE HOUSE HAS ASSERTED EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE.
Here's the letter to Sen. Leahy and Congressman Conyers from Fred Fielding, WH Counsel.
HOW THIS HAPPENED:
While looking into complaints from fired and smeared REPUBLICAN US Attorneys, some amazing information came to light about an ILLEGAL Warrantless Wiretapping Program that's been conducted against Americans IN SECRET.
Most notable was the story James Comey (Acting Attorney General/Deputy Attorney General) told under oath regarding this ILLEGAL WIRETAPPING PROGRAM and a crazy attempt by the White House to bully Former Attorney General John Ashcroft while he was recovering from pancreas and gall bladder removal in an Intensive Care Unit. The White House hoped that a man under the influence of powerful pain killers would sign off on a criminal order to WIRETAP AMERICANS. The White House was wrong.
The Senate had been asking for information about the warrantless wiretapping order for five years…All roads led to Dick Cheney. In addition, information made its way to the Senate that neither the President nor the Vice President would submit to National Security Inspections to protect OUR National Security documents.
And Cheney offered an explanation:CHENEY decided he was not PART OF THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH.First he claimed Executive Privilege (regarding his energy meetings). Then he claimed he wasn't part of the Executive Branch – he's claimed he was a member of the Legislative Branch. Then he claimed he was both Executive and Legislative…and now he's back in the Executive Branch but not an agency within it. Now he's invoked 'Executive Privilege" once again!

Sen. Rahm Emanuel brought up the defunding of Cheney's Office. Here is the amendment.
MORE LYING UNDER OATH??Sen. Leahy writes to Gonzo because he suspects a sitting judge lied during his confirmation hearing to cover for Cheney's secret torture and detention policies.
