Bruce Springsteen will perform Monday at an Eastern Michigan University rally for Democrat Barack Obama's presidential campaign. The Obama campaign was announcing Thursday that Springsteen would play a free acoustic set and headline the rally at Oestrike Stadium on Eastern Michigan's campus.

Ticket details are not yet available. Gates are expected to open at 3 p.m. and the program is expected to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Springsteen is also scheduled to perform Saturday at a Philadelphia rally and on Sunday at Ohio State University. Springsteen will team up with Billy Joel in a joint concert at an Obama campaign fundraiser in New York City on Oct. 16.

Bluegrass legend Stanley cuts Obama radio ad
RICHMOND, Va. - Democrat Barack Obama has a famous, twangy voice speaking for him in Virginia's mountains: bluegrass music legend Ralph Stanley.

The Grammy-winning pioneer of the high lonesome sound of Appalachian music is featured in a new radio ad for Obama's presidential campaign playing across southwestern Virginia, Stanley's home.

Obama is fiercely contesting the region covered mostly by the mountainous, coal-mining, rural and largely white 9th Congressional District. Though Obama crushed rival Hillary Clinton in Virginia's February Democratic primary, Clinton won 65 percent of the vote.

Obama has visited Southside and southwestern Virginia at least three times since June, and his running mate, Joe Biden, addressed a mine workers union picnic in the heart of the district last month.
