Kokoda plane crash: wreck found, all dead

All dead in Kokoda plane crash

PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd has confirmed there are no survivors from the Kokoda plane crash.
The charter plane went missing yesterday with 13 people on board - seven Victorians, two Queenslanders, one Japanese and three PNG citizens, authorities say. An aerial search resumed this morning and found the charter plane's wreckage but saw "no signs of activity".
"Officials on the ground at the crash site (have) concluded that there were no survivors from the crash," Mr Rudd said. "This is distressing news for all families of those concerned.
"There is a horrible tragedy involved when families send off their loved ones for what they expect to be the experience of a lifetime only for it to turn into a tragedy such as this."
PNG police had been dropped down to the crash site earlier this morning. One of the pilots who first spotted the wreckage said it appeared the plane had slammed into a cliff face, according to the Courier-Mail's Peter Michael who is now in Port Moresby.
