Education Secretary: Furor Over Obama Speech 'Silly'

StillAmused
The truly scary thing is, now that they've emerged from the damp underbrush and revealed themselves, we have to figure out what to do with this subspecies.

WASHINGTON -- Education Secretary Arne Duncan says the furor surrounding President Barack Obama's speech this week to the nation's school children is "silly."
Duncan's department is taking heat for proposed lesson plans distributed to accompany Tuesday's speech. Duncan acknowledges that a section about writing to the president on how students can help him meet education goals was poorly written and has been changed.
Duncan says viewing the speech is "purely voluntary." And he says the hubbub is something "I frankly don't pay any attention to."
He says he's is focused "laser-like" on the big problems in the country's education system. LinkHere

Obama School Speech Conspiracies Endorsed By Republicans

WASHINGTON — The White House on Friday dismissed as pointless the furor over President Barack Obama's plan to deliver a televised back-to-school speech to the nation's students.
"I think we've reached a little bit of the silly season when the president of the United States can't tell kids in school to study hard and stay in school," presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters. "I think both political parties agree that the dropout rate is something that threatens our long-term economic success."
Obama's planned address to students has prompted a surprising push-back from some quarters over what the White House sees as an important but innocuous topic.
Some conservative critics say Obama is trying to promote a political agenda and overstepping his bounds, taking the federal government too far into public school business.
Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, a potential presidential contender in 2012, said Obama's speech is "uninvited" and that the president's move raises questions of content and motive. LinkHere

yvonne61!!!After other country see how these people are acting, that they ever respect us again, is going to take a miracle

Kangaroo Down Under!!! Amen to that, laughing stock I'd say, this from the so called leading nation of the free world. GOP run amock. DUMB, DUMB AND DUMBER.

Right-wing mom so upset about Obama's pro-education speech, she cries on CNN

ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC.

Think the "debate" over President Obama's planned pro-education speech to students had already crossed the line into absurdity?
Think again.

The poor woman who started crying as visions of "brainwashing" and "socialism" flashed before her eyes is a classic example of the mental and emotional trauma being inflicted on many Americans by propagandists out to score political points however they can, even bymanufacturing utter nonsense. These individuals exist, of course, on all the political fringes, but seem to be especially reverberating among the right-wing constituency right now.
Suddenly, "go to school," "read books" and "college is good" becomes endless rows of brain-dead underlings, forcibly jacked-in to the Matrix and being reprogrammed by wicked television sciences, ready to goose-step toward, uh, something. Doctors perhaps? No, better to go with socialism.
Nevermind that the Republicans' most favored president of the last 50 years -- Ronald Reagan -- did the very same thing with a speech to students about how lowering taxes will be good for everyone. How many liberals were on the news literally crying about that one?
President Obama's speech is scheduled for Tuesday. Meanwhile, take a look (below) at the evil socialist brainwashing perpetrated by his predecessor in 1988 ... And try to hold back the tears.
