Special interests receive a copy of Baucus plan before the White House does

Special interests receive a copy of Baucus plan before the White House does.
In today’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs admitted that the Obama administration has not yet seen a copy of Sen. Max Baucus’ (D-MT) newest draft of health care legislation. “We’ve seen what we’ve read in the paper, but I do not believe that we’ve seen paper on the plan,” said Gibbs. However, he added that he believes special interests on K Street have already received a copy:
GIBBS: I was told that — that K Street had a copy of the Baucus plan, meaning, not surprisingly, the special interests have gotten a copy of the plan that I understand was given to committee members today.
Baucus has received hefty financial contributions from the health care industry.

Beck’s Guest Unknowingly Invalidates Her Own Arguments On Health Care Reform

This woman, who was part a very partisan gathering in Glenn Beck’s studio, claimed that she pays $115,000 to cover all of her employees, which she should be commended for if, in fact, she does. She then continued on to say that if she were to no longer cover her employees and decide to pay the 8% payroll tax instead, she would save $50,000. (Any employer who makes over a certain amount of money, and does not provide health insurance for their employees, will be mandated to pay an 8% payroll tax).
She then said:
I don’t want to save that money at the expense of giving them [her employees] universal, government controlled health care.
I am not sure what point she was trying to make, but here is the great thing about the public option, if she doesn’t want to leave her current provider, she doesn’t have to.
Though this woman’s objective was to vilify the public option, all she really accomplished was to demonstrate that not all businesses are going to choose to put their employees on the public option, even though everyone on the right is certain private insurance companies will cease to exist if a public option is implemented.
Here is the kicker. If a public option is implemented, and this woman chooses not to put her employees on it, she will still benefit in the long run. By having the public option available, competition will be created. This will force her current private insurance company to lower their premiums to make sure that she does not terminate her policy. Isn’t competition wonderful?
