Republican Switches Districts To Run Against Grayson

Winter Park Doc junks Kosmas race to take on Grayson
Winter Park doctor Ken Miller has changed his mind, and instead of challenging U.S. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, will jump over to the neighboring district and take on U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson.

Miller said that once former state Sen. Dan Webster opted not to run against the firebrand freshman from Orlando this month, he needed to mount a "credible challenge" to Grayson.

Here's the full announcement from Miller.

Two things could be going on here. One, Republicans appear to be happy with either Winter Park Commissioner Karen Diebel or state Rep. Sandy Adams taking on Kosmas. National GOPers even appear to be rallying behind Diebel already.

Second, the departure of Webster, R-Winter Garden, along with Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty and state Rep. Stephen Precourt from the GOP mix of challengers to Grayson, makes that race appear a bit more wide open. That could make better sense for Miller, a relative political unknown.

Two Tea Party activists -- Dan Fanelli and Patricia Sullivan -- are mounting a Grayson challenge, and recent South Florida transplant Armando Gutierrez Jr. has done quite a bit to shore up Republican Party support with a string of endorsements. LinkHere
