Congresswoman calls for investigation into White House ‘reporter’ linked to escort sites

Rep. Slaughter Calls on President Bush to Explain Emerging White House Briefing Room Scandal

Dear Mr. President:

In light of the mounting evidence that your Administration has, on several occasions, paid members of the media to advocate in favor of Administration policies, I feel compelled to ask you to address a matter brought to my attention by the Niagara Falls Reporter (article attached), a local newspaper in my district, regarding James "JD" Guckert (AKA Jeff Gannon) of Talon News.

According to several credible reports, "Mr. Gannon" has been repeatedly credentialed as a member of the White House press corps by your office and has been regularly called upon in White House press briefings by your Press Secretary Scott McClellan, despite the fact evidence shows that "Mr. Gannon" is a Republican political operative, uses a false name, has phony or questionable journalistic credentials, is known for plagiarizing much of the "news" he reports, and according to several web reports, may have ties to the promotion of the prostitution of military personnel.

U.S. general says he believes British plane was downed by hostile act, not accident

By Robert Burns, Associated Press,

2/9/2005 11:53

WASHINGTON (AP) A senior U.S. general said Wednesday he believes the British C-130 aircraft that crashed in Iraq on Jan. 30, killing all 10 people aboard, was downed by hostile action rather than by a mechanical problem. The British government has not said whether it was shot down.

''I personally believe there may have been either hostile action or something that happened inside the aircraft, but I doubt that it was mechanical in nature, if you know what I mean,'' Air Force Lt. Gen. Lance Smith, the deputy commander of U.S. Central Command, told reporters.

FBI checking Clermont voting Congressman claims tampering

BATAVIA - The Federal Bureau of Investigation is interviewing members of the Clermont County Board of Elections because of a Democratic Congressman's claim of vote-tampering during the presidential election.
The allegations stem from white oval-shaped stickers, about the size of an M&M, placed on fewer than 100 ballots.

Poll workers used them on Election Day to correct mistaken votes and determine intent on the optical scan ballots. Some voters, for example, marked their vote, but also etched a small mark in the space for another candidate, which threw off the machines.

---I'm not sure if this reporter actually read the SWORN AFADAVITS by these witnesses whom have stated that the stickers covered KERRY votes and there were MANY more than 100 of them.---

China executes 650: AmnestyFrom correspondents in Beijing

February 10, 2005

CHINA, which puts more people to death than the rest of the world combined, has executed at least 650 in the two months leading up to the Lunar New Year, rights group Amnesty International said.

The executions reached a fearful crescendo in the last two weeks before the holiday, when 200 people were put to death, according to the London-based organisation, which based its data on official Chinese media reports.

"The true figure is certainly much higher, as China refuses to publish full details of all the people it executes," Amnesty said in a statement on China's "horrific New Year."

---Notice Bush doesn't seem eager to take on the Chinese DICTATORS...?---

Video shows 'Iraqi troop deaths'

Iraqi insurgents say they have killed seven members of the security forces, whose deaths are apparently shown in a video posted on the militants' website.

The video, released by the Army of Ansar al-Sunna, shows seven men being interrogated and then shot as they kneeled outdoors with their eyes bound.

Seven Iraqi soldiers were captured on Thursday in an ambush near Baghdad.

The deaths come as a top US general says "severe intimidation" by rebels is affecting numbers of Iraqi soldiers.

Seduction of an unwitting suicide bomber

A mother had no hint her disabled son had been chosen for a deadly mission, writes Paul McGeough in Baghdad.

Of all the savage stories of the 20-month-long Iraqi insurgency, the story of how a young disabled boy was turned into a human bomb is one of the cruellest.

What makes a terrorist tick?By Caroline Drees in Washington

February 10, 2005

WHAT turns a man into a terrorist? What makes a doctor like al-Qaeda's Ayman al-Zawahri swap healing for killing, or a Palestinian mother of two blow herself up at an army checkpoint?

A new US government-funded centre at the University of Maryland aims to find out. Scholars involved in the project, funded with a $US12 million ($15.67 million) three-year US grant, hope their research will explain what makes people adopt terrorist tactics, and then help stop attacks before they occur.

---I'll tell you what causes terrorists for a measly MILLION...What a joke.---

Abbas deploys aide for militia talks

From correspondents in Ramallah

February 10, 2005

PALESTINIAN leader Mahmud Abbas has dispatched a top aide to Lebanon for talks with Hizbollah leaders in a bid to stop them trying to wreck a Middle East ceasefire, political and security sources said today.

Abdelfatah Hamayel, who served as a cabinet minister under Abbas during his time as prime minister in 2003, was expected to urge the Shiite militia to stop funding attacks by militants amid fears that Hizbollah is trying to derail the fledgling peace process.

---Good luck. I truely hope it works.---

Iraq Deposits Five Billion Dollars with US Federal Reserve

February 8, 2005

BAGHDAD, Feb 8 (AFP) - The Iraqi central bank has built up five billion dollars in reserves in recent months which have been deposited with the US Federal Reserve, a top US treasury official said Tuesday.

The sum will earn the Iraqi government about 100 million dollars of much needed interest each year, John Taylor, US treasury under secretary for international affairs, told a press conference after talks with Iraqi officials.

---Now this is a joke right?...Because the recent news has the Provisional Authority 'misplacing' 10 BILLION dollars in 18 months...I don't have it...do you?...hmmm---

Rice threatens Iran to refer it to the UN Security Council

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice repeated the U.S. threats against Iran over its nuclear programme, saying that Tehran has one of two choices, either accepts a European deal or faces referral the UN Security Council for possible sanctions.

---To put it in mild terms..I simply can not stand the site of this lying bitch anymore. She makes me vomit.---

Extremists make barbers new hunted

Baghdad: Umm Ali says militants killed her son last month for the most unlikely of reasons: he trimmed men's beards.

In Baghdad's Dora neighbourhood, residents say Sunni extremists have made barbers the new hunted, accusing them of violating a strict reading of Islamic teachings that say men should keep their beards long.

Some extremists also consider Western-style haircuts an offensive symbol of the hated, secularised culture of Europe and the United States. To them, sporting a clipped beard or a modern haircut is an infraction worthy of death.

---Just when you thought the stupidity had reached a breaking point...it folds back around to ghastly dumb instead.---

Top US team presses Nato on Iraq

Two of the US administration's top officials are holding talks in Europe aimed in part at drumming up support for operations in Iraq.

Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is in the French city of Nice to call for Nato colleagues to do more for the military effort there.

---It is true Rummy hates the French, but he would MUCH rather go there than say, Germany...You know Germany the place WAR CRIMINALS fear because they have ummm..certain legal precedents...They got Pinochet, in time... eventually Rummy, they will get you, too. You will never be able to run far enough.---

Syria says U.S. isolation threats to please Israel

Syria slammed the U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice over her threat to isolate Damascus, saying that it was designed to please Israel.

"Accusing Syria of terrorism is not new, and although the United States knows Syria is cooperating on this, it nevertheless continues to demand more," Radio Damascus said.

The U.S. threats, expressed by Rice or anyone else, "have the sole aim to please Israel, which thinks that (Lebanese-Syrian) unity threatens its security".

"By calling resistance movements terrorist (organizations), the administration of President George W. Bush violates a legitimate right of the UN charter," the radio added.

---You know the world is assbackwards when SYRIA has to point out to the USA what thier rights are under the U.N Charter...Oh yeah Bush and his merry band of mighty Iraqi killers NEVER READ the UN Charter...--

Baghdad suicide bomb blast kills 21

Up to 21 people were killed and 27 wounded by a suicide bomb in the west of Baghdad, a US army spokesman said, marking the deadliest insurgent attack since Iraq's general election nine days ago.

Hospital sources had initially put the death toll at up to 14 but the army spokesman confirmed it had risen and said the bomber had been on foot.
The blast occurred near an Iraqi army recruitment centre in western Baghdad, hospital officials said. There was no immediate confirmation of the cause of the explosion. Black smoke rose into the sky and ambulances raced to the scene.

Separately, gunmen ambushed the convoy of an Iraqi politician in western Baghdad, killing two of his sons, police said.

They said Mithal al-Alusi, secretary-general of the Democratic Party of the Iraqi Nation, had survived the attack.

Alusi is a controversial figure in Iraq - he has been a vocal critic of Syria and Iran, and was widely criticised in Iraq for visiting Israel last year.
After his visit he was expelled from the Iraqi National Congress party led by Ahmad Chalabi.

---BTW...Is the Jordanian arrest warrant still out on Chalabi for stealing MILLIONS some years ago?---
