A UN report quotes the estimations of some sources for the number of murdered and injured Iraqis since the beginning of 2004 as approximately 26,000, while other sources have estimated murdered civilians in Iraq by more than 30000 since March 2003.

The UN delegation in Iraq has issued a report on the status of human rights in Iraq, including legal and military violations and incidents of chaos and transgression that Iraqis are witnessing under the foreign occupation of the country.

The report said that some sources have estimated the number of Iraqi deaths and injuries since the beginning of 2004 by approximately 26000, while other sources estimated them by more than 30000 since March 2003.

The report, which included covering the conditions in Iraq for two months, as of September 1 until October 31, stated that the number of murdered reporters and affiliates in the news media has reached 74 persons, since the invasion led by the United States against Iraq. On the other hand, there is a number of reporters, who are detained on behalf of the security and multinational forces.

The report said that many parts in Iraq are still suffering from a state of general collapse of law and order, which is represented in the spread of violence all over the country. The terrorist attacks and targeted assassinations and executions that took place outside the framework of law have led to the murder and injury of hundreds of civilians. The wide-scale security operations launched by the Special Forces and Iraqi police are still neglecting the directions announced by the interior minister in August for the purpose of securing protection for individuals during the detention and search operations.

He stated that the repeated bombarding campaigns that were executed by armed groups against civilians and mosques have led to increasing fears of the deterioration of relations among citizens and its turning into a state of fear, hostility and vengeance.

The current military operations, especially in the western and northern regions in the country are still causing suffering and immigration of thousands of families, as well as causing serious damages to civilians in general.
