Thomas F. Barton
"Ft. Carson Was A Powderkeg With The Fuse Lit" - "The Anti-War Sentiment Was Running Rampant" - "You Could Cut The Rebellious Atmosphere With A Knife".
The GI Special issue of September 10th was a difficult and emotional read for me. It brought back so many memories. September 10th 1970, I was still in the US Army. My last duty station was the 517th Med Co. at Ft. Carson Colorado.
During my time as a soldier I had been in a multitude of units. They kept moving me around.
The Brass said I had a bad attitude and short of shooting me they didn't know what to do with me.Infantry, JAG, 33rd Army Band, Signal, Personnel, MOS Testing, you name it I was there. Through my travels I got to know the system from top to bottom.
