Dutch officers in 'torture cover-up'

I begin to wonder really, which countries of the coalition have indeed tried to liberate the people of Iraq from the injustices of Sadam, they have gone from one lot of injustices to even worse injustices committed by Bush and his coalition.

THE HAGUE: Dutch soldiers have been accused of torturing dozens of Iraqi prisoners, and their officers are said to have covered up the practice.

Dutch military intelligence agents employed "robust questioning tactics" - including dousing prisoners with water as part of sleep deprivation techniques - De Volkskrant newspaper reported yesterday, citing a Defence Ministry spokesman who said: "Things happened that are in violation of instructions."

The interrogations took place at the US-led coalition's provisional authority buildings in the town of Samawah, 370km southeast of Baghdad.

Detainees were also blindfolded before being exposed unprotected to intense light, potentially damaging their eyes, the newspaper said. They were exposed to extremely unpleasant sounds and refused permission to speak to lawyers. >>>cont
