Moon/Bush 'Ongoing Crime Enterprise'

Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his business/political/media/religious organization have avoided prosecution for a shark poaching scam despite evidence of Moon's direct involvement. Moon, who has poured billions of mysterious dollars into pro-Republican media and into financial support for prominent right-wingers, got the benefit of the doubt again from Bush administration prosecutors. They seem incapable of recognizing an "ongoing criminal enterprise" when they see one, at least when it's done lots of favors for the President and his family. February 17, 2007

Originally published in 1997, this article describes what Rev. Sun Myung Moon's hardball recruitment tactics did to families -- and how his organization preyed upon unsuspecting Americans to raise money. Moon could be viewed as just one more religious charlatan if it weren't for his close ties to the Bush family and other top Republicans. Republished February 17, 2007

Still driven by a neoconservative ideology, the Bush administration is leading the United States into a foreign-policy jungle where George W. Bush may think of himself as the world's most powerful predator today but where that supremacy may not be long lived. In this guest essay, Ivan Eland uses another jungle metaphor, likening Bush's foreign policy to a chest-thumping Tarzan declaring "we good, you bad." February 14, 2007
