Obama: "If I Were Watching Fox News, I Wouldn't Vote For Me"

In Matt Bai's long profile of Barack Obama in the upcoming New York Times magazine, he squeezes a choice quote out of Obama to get the candidate's true feelings about Fox News (despite his long-delayed appearance on Bill O'Reilly's show).
"I am convinced that if there were no Fox News, I might be two or three points higher in the polls," Obama told me. "If I were watching Fox News, I wouldn't vote for me, right? Because the way I'm portrayed 24/7 is as a freak! I am the latte-sipping, New York Times-reading, Volvo-driving, no-gun-owning, effete, politically correct, arrogant liberal. Who wants somebody like that?"

Fox News Responds: "Senator Obama's Comments About Fox News Are Misdirected"

In reaction to Senator Obama's comments in the forthcoming NYT Magazine story, John Moody, Executive Vice President, News Editorial for FOX News tells Huffington Post, "Senator Obama's comments about Fox News are misdirected. If he is uncomfortable with tough questions, it may be because he has faced so few from the news media."
Obama has opened up about Fox News recently, telling the New York Times Magazine that the network paints him as a "latte-sipping" "freak" and saying, "I am convinced that if there were no Fox News, I might be two or three points higher in the polls." He even mentioned the network in Wednesday night's debate, telling McCain that "even Fox News disputes" McCain's characterization of Obama's tax policy, "and that doesn't happen very often when it comes to accusations about me."
Moody added, "The McCain campaign also complains when we make them squirm. We will continue to do hard, honest reporting and let American viewers decide if we're being fair."
