Editor says torture was 'Dick Cheney's jihad'
Former Vice President Dick Cheney allegedly used Congressional intelligence briefings as “inter-governmental lobbying opportunities” to support the illegal abuse of terror war prisoners, according to a recent report.
On MSNBC Wednesday night, Nation editor Chris Hayes called the program “Dick Cheney’s jihad” and assessed the Bush administration’s view of presidential powers during wartime as “absolutely insane.”
“The CIA made no mention of [Cheney's] role in documents delivered to Capitol Hill last month that listed every lawmaker who had been briefed on ‘enhanced interrogation techniques’ since 2002,” reported The Washington Post on Wednesday morning. “For meetings that were overseen by Cheney, the agency told the intelligence committees that information about who oversaw those briefings was ‘not available.’” LinkHere
