Sarah Palin Starts On Air TONIGHT On Fox

NEW YORK — Sarah Palin will debut as a Fox News Channel commentator on tonight's edition of "The O'Reilly Factor."
Fox News Channel says that the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate will "sit down with Bill to take on America's top issues."
Palin's multiyear deal with the network was announced Monday, and takes her back to her broadcast roots. She majored in journalism with an emphasis on broadcasting at the University of Idaho and worked part time as a weekend sportscaster in 1988 for an Anchorage TV station.

O’Reilly excited that Palin will be able to use Fox News to help her political career. »
Yesterday, Fox News officially announced that former Alaska governor Sarah Palin was joining the network as a contributor. “I am thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at Fox News,” Palin said in a statement. “It’s wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balance news.” Last night, O’Reilly happily said it was a “[s]mart move” for her “political future” because she could have a platform to become more knowledgeable on national issues. Brit Hume was more cautious, agreeing that being a contributor would “give her a chance to perhaps polish her articulation of issues,” but staying clear of O’Reilly’s full-throated endorsement:
O’REILLY: Right. Okay, now let’s get to Sarah Palin signing on with FNC. Smart move I think for the governor. Do you agree?
HUME: Well, she’ll certainly — is somebody that our audience will be interested in. The whole country is interested in her. The fascination with her, the preoccupation with her is something to behold. And it has endured, you know, long past the end of the campaign. Still endures to this day. So she will certainly be an asset to the FOX News Channel in the sense of attracting an audience. And that will give her a forum where she can say what she thinks. And it’ll give her a chance to perhaps polish her articulation of issues. [...]
HUME: And to come across more knowledgeable on those issues.
O’REILLY: And she can do that here.
HUME: Well, I certainly — this will certainly give her a place where she can discuss those issues (INAUDIBLE).
